Peter Gawley, left, president of McAirlaid’s North American operations, presents a check to L.D. Arrington for the Lights for Life fundraising drive. The contribution from the German-based company with a plant in Rocky Mount marks the first to come from an industry. The drive is about one-quarter of the way to reaching its $425,000 goal to install traffic signal changers at all county intersections and on all emergency response vehicles. The drive was started in memory of the two veteran Rocky Mount volunteer firefighters, Chief Posey Dillon and Danny Altice, who were killed in a fire truck wreck on July 26.
